Track 1. Getting Started

Upload Your First Panorama

Upload an equirectangular 360 panorama, let Mango360 validate it and generate the preview and derivatives the viewer needs.

4 min readLesson 3 of 4

In this lesson you add the first panorama to the project and get it validated. Mango360 checks the format and the 2:1 ratio, then produces a preview plus low, medium and high quality webp and avif derivatives for the viewer.

Prepare the file

The platform accepts jpg, png and tiff files in equirectangular projection, and the width must be exactly twice the height. A phone panorama cropped to 16:9 will be rejected, because the image has to wrap around the viewer in every direction.

  1. Export the panorama as jpg or png in equirectangular (360) projection.
  2. Check the pixel dimensions: the width must be exactly twice the height.
  3. Keep the file inside the size limit of your plan; the viewer still plays the compressed derivatives.
  4. Name the file after the location, for example lobby-entrance, so it is easy to find later.

Add the scene

Open the project and press Add scene in the toolbar. Choose the Panorama type, drop the file into the upload area and wait for the upload to finish. The scene appears in the list immediately, and the derivatives are generated in the background.

Read the validation result

The properties panel shows a status for each scene. Ready means the derivatives exist and the scene can be published. Processing means the conversion is still running. Failed means the file was rejected, and the panel explains whether the ratio was wrong or the format unsupported.

Re-upload a panorama as a new file instead of editing it in place. The derivatives are cached per file, and a new file always gets a fresh set of them.
