Track 5. Marketing & Analytics

Read Your Analytics Dashboard

Read viewer opens, scene dwell time, hotspot clicks and drop-off in the analytics dashboard, and export the numbers as CSV.

You will learn what each metric in the dashboard measures, where the drop-off happens in your tour and how to export the raw numbers for a report.

The four metrics

Open the Analytics tab of the project and choose a date range to compare periods. The overview shows opens for the period, the average visit length and the busiest scenes. The scene list breaks the same data down per scene, and that is where the drop-off column shows you where visitors leave.

  • Viewer opens — how many times the tour was opened, with the source of the visit.
  • Scene dwell time — the average seconds a visitor spent in each scene.
  • Hotspot clicks — which markers were clicked and how often.
  • Drop-off — the share of visitors who left at a given scene.

Read the drop-off

A drop-off of more than half the visitors on a mid-tour scene usually means the scene is dark, the hotspot is missing or the next step is not obvious. Check the dwell time of that scene as well: a very low value means visitors never oriented themselves there.

Compare the metrics of a published version before and after a change. The dashboard keeps the history by version, so you can see whether a new start scene improved the completion rate.

Export the data

  1. Open the Analytics tab and choose the date range you want to report on.
  2. Click the CSV export button and download the selection: opens, dwell time and clicks per scene.
  3. Open the file in a spreadsheet and keep it as the source for a monthly report or a client presentation.
