Track 5. Marketing & Analytics

Promote and Distribute Your Tour

Share a tour on social platforms, in newsletters and in printed material, and measure every channel with its own link.

You will prepare a tour for promotion outside the platform: a link for social networks, a version for a newsletter and printed material with a QR code, each one traceable in the analytics dashboard.

Create a separate link for every channel instead of sharing one address everywhere. The dashboard lists the referrer of each visit, so a campaign link tells you exactly how many people arrived from that channel. Set the scene parameter on each link so the visitor lands on the part of the tour that the message promises.

  1. Create a link for each channel you plan to use.
  2. Set the scene parameter to match the message of the post.
  3. Add the channel name to the campaign field of the analytics view.
  4. Check the opens per link after the first day.

Adapt the format

Social platforms show links without a preview unless the tour is shared with a preview image, so use the share image from the tour settings. In a newsletter, embed the tour with the iframe snippet and set ui=minimal so the reader sees the tour, not the toolbar.

Links to a published tour never expire. A QR code printed on a poster keeps working for years, so test the tour on a phone after every major update.

Keep the message short

A tour is not a landing page. Say in one line what the visitor will see, put the link where it can be tapped with a thumb, and give a reason to look: a room that is not shown on the photos, or a walk that takes two minutes.
