How do I embed video and audio in a hotspot?
Add a media hotspot, point it at an MP4, a YouTube or Vimeo page, or play an audio track inside the tour.
A media hotspot opens a player in an overlay when the visitor taps it. You can point it at a hosted file or at a YouTube or Vimeo page, and the panorama stays visible behind the overlay.
Add the hotspot
- Open the scene and choose Add hotspot → Media.
- Click the panorama to position the hotspot.
- Choose the source: a direct file link, YouTube or Vimeo.
- Enter the URL, pick a poster image and set the playback behaviour.
A media hotspot can carry its own title, so the visitor knows what opens before the tap. If the file lives on your own server, use a direct link that stays valid for the whole life of the tour, and keep the poster image on the same host to avoid a second request. The overlay closes with the Esc key or by tapping outside it, which matters most on a phone. Keep the media in the same storage as the rest of the tour if you can: different hosts with different access rules give the player more reasons to come up empty.
Files and links
Direct links should point to an MP4 for video or an MP3 for audio and must allow playback from other sites. If the player stays empty, the host is blocking hotlinking or the file is served over plain HTTP.
Tuning the overlay
- Posters are shown before playback, so keep them under a few hundred kilobytes.
- Set Muted by default for an automatically started tour, since browsers block sound.
- Volume and fullscreen are available to the visitor inside the overlay.
A tour that autoplays is muted in every browser until the visitor taps the sound icon. That is a browser rule, not a Mango360 setting, and it is the most common reason a video appears to be silent.
